Shree Achane Higher Secondary School at Khahare
Shree Achane Higher Secondary School is the local community secondary school with over 1000 students who come from many different primary and lower schools in the Dhading region. In 2014 it celebrated its 50th anniversary.
Help Rural Nepal has been helping this school since 2010 and has provided new library books, catalogued the entire library content, carpeted the library floor, installed several computers and printers and provided computer classes. Solar panels were installed to provide power for the computers and the library although power was subsequently provided in 2012 from a nearby hydro-electric power plant and the solar panels provide a useful backup power source.
We regularly provide additional books for the library e.g. books for business studies courses, accounting, advanced mathematics, teaching guides and English novels. We have also funded teacher training courses specifically focused on teaching in remote areas and provides ongoing support to the teachers.
The earthquakes in 2015 severely damaged this school and rebuilding projects were quickly undertaken with funding from overseas aid agencies and the government.
