HEALTH
In December 2019 we held our 3rd very successful Dental camp. The camps are for 2 weeks, with a week each in two nearby locations. The dental teams provide basic dental care to over 200 people per camp, most of whom had no other access to dental care.
A basic dental training course is provided to local healthcare workers followed by practical experience as they work with the visiting dentists. A dental chair and a dental kit is donated to the local healthcare team after the camp.
Dental hygienists can visit schools to teach staff and children about oral hygiene and to donate toothbrushes and paste.
Help Rural Nepal has supported local Health Post by providing medical equipment such as baby weighing scales, and blood pressure machines.
The charity also supports individual members of the community, when necessary, by contributing to hospital fees and transport costs.
The charity has arranged help from other specific charities where possible, for example, arranging for a child with a cleft lip and palate to have surgery done by a specialising charity in Kathmandu.
Sunil whose hand was badly burnt (see photo above) as a child has had a number of operations and he now has full movement and has become an accomplished flautist. Here is a picture of his hand now and a recording of his playing - which is simply beautiful. He also makes the flutes himself.
You can listen to a recording of Sunil playing his flute in November 2019 below.
